The different shapes of the foot - pointe shoes

Pointe shoes are every girls dream, it is what makes you seem like a professional ballerina!
There are many different brands of pointe shoes, as you can guess there is a big difference when changing from one brand to another, hence why getting the closest to perfect brand for you first pair of pointe shoes is so important to prevent injury at an early age.
When fitting your first pair of pointe shoes, you need to now the three main types of shapes of the foot. There is the Greek, Egyptian and Square. The Greek foot normally have narrow to medium width foot, there second toe is longer than there first toe (big toe). The Egyptian foot has narrow to medium foot width, there foot is normally tapered (first toe longer than the second toe, second toe longer than the third toe etc) The Egyptian foot has reasonably long toes and often a gap between the big toe and the second toe. The square foot is pretty much what it sounds like!- the foot is medium to large in width and toes are reasonably short. There is no space in between each toe and the first three to four toes are normally the same length. Don't worry, you don't have to remember these of by heart! I highly recommend having your first pair professionally fitted, and they will defiantly now what shape foot you have got!!!
